I will accompany you in labor to help ensure a safe labor and delivery, that is a satisfying experience for you and your partner. This will be achieved by the knowledge I have learned through Birth Arts International as well as my personal experiences as a mother. It is my pleasure to offer you and your partner emotional and physical support as needed. I will communicate with you and your caregivers any information necessary to help you make informed decisions with regard to the labor and birth of your baby. I will provide you and your partner with perspective and objectivity and suggestions to aid you during this special time. I will be assisting with relaxation, massage and other comfort measures. As I am self employed, I will be working for you, not the hospital or your primary caregiver.
I would like to meet with you, and your birth partner or support person at least once before you labor to allow us get acquainted with one another and become aware of any fears or concerns you may have about giving birth. During this meeting, we will go through your birthing plan. If you do not have a birth plan I can assist you in developing one if desired.
A first time meeting does not obligate you to use my services but allows us to meet and greet one another to ensure we are a fit.
I will remain with you, and baby for up to 2 hours after the birth. This will allow me to help you adjust and start breastfeeding if that is what you have chosen. We will ensure you are comfortable and that any an all questions you may have are answered. Following the birth, I will set a time to visit within the first week at your home, to see how mom and baby are doing. At this time if you have any further questions or concerns we could cover them and I can recount your birth story for you for clarity.
